Bringing the Tree Pose to Life Activity
Children love stories, which makes story yoga an enjoyable and effective practice for our little yogis. This activity is engaging, adds an element of fun, and fosters connection among participants.
Steps to Follow
- Initiate a Discussion: Encourage a conversation about how trees grow. Ask questions like: What do we plant in the ground? What do trees need to thrive? Do they grow quickly or slowly?
- Get into Child’s Pose: Have the kids assume child’s pose and imagine watering their tree. Once they are “watered,” they can gradually rise into a kneeling position.
- Check Our Growth: Ask, “Are we a big tree yet?” Of course, the answer will be no! Slowly, have them rise onto their knees and extend their arms out to the sides to mimic branches.
- Continue Growing: Again, ask, “Are we still not a big tree?” Water them some more and encourage them to rise to their feet into tree pose.
This is the moment we challenge our students to see how long they can maintain their balance. When everyone starts to wobble, we can swish and swirl in the wind, and then all gently fall back into child’s pose, ready to try growing with the opposite leg.

Making Tree Pose part of a child’s routine is like planting seeds for a lifetime of well-being. Yoga’s not just a physical booster; it’s a magical journey that nurtures minds and souls, preparing kids for a bright and balanced future! 🌳✨
